Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
DAAR (“DAAR”, “we”, “us”) is an English speaking coach built by a small team based in Iraq. This policy explains what we collect when you use thedaar.com and the DAAR app, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run your lessons: your name, a way to reach you, and what you say and write in your sessions.
- We don’t sell your data and we don’t show ads.
- AI providers process your session content to power Dana. They may not use it to train their models.
- You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
1. What we collect
- Waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address.
- Your account. Your name and the email address or phone number you sign in with. DAAR doesn’t use passwords.
- Your sessions. What you say and type to Dana (voice recordings, their transcripts and your messages), plus Dana’s replies and corrections, your notebook, your progress and the mistakes you tend to repeat.
- Your device. A push notification token, your notification settings, your app version, your device type and the technical logs we need to keep the app working.
- Payments. When paid plans launch, a payment provider handles payments. We receive confirmation of your plan, not your full card details.
2. How we use it
- To run your sessions: generating Dana’s replies, correcting you, and building your notebook, practice path and mistake analysis.
- To send notifications you’ve turned on, and service emails, for example when your waitlist spot opens.
- To keep DAAR secure and prevent abuse.
- To understand what works and improve our lessons.
- To comply with the law.
If you’re in the EU or UK, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (running the service), our legitimate interests (security and improving DAAR), and your consent (notifications and marketing emails), which you can withdraw at any time.
3. Your microphone
DAAR only records while you’re speaking to Dana in a session. We use recordings to understand what you said and give you feedback. We don’t use your voice recordings to train AI models.
4. Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers that help us run DAAR, and only what they need:
- AI providers, such as Anthropic, that generate Dana’s replies and feedback, and speech services that turn your voice into text.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers, such as Cloudflare, that run our website and servers.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, to deliver push notifications.
- Email and payment providers.
We choose providers whose terms don’t allow them to use your content to train their models. We may also disclose data when the law requires it or to protect someone’s safety. If DAAR is ever sold or merged, your data would move to the new owner under this policy.
5. Where your data is processed
Our providers process data in countries outside Iraq, including the United States and the European Union. We rely on their contractual safeguards for these transfers.
6. How long we keep it
- Voice recordings: deleted within 30 days, once they’ve been transcribed.
- Account, transcripts, notebook and progress: while your account is active.
- After you delete your account: we delete your data within 30 days, and from backups within 90 days.
- Waitlist email: until you sign up or ask us to remove it.
We may keep limited records longer when the law requires it, for example payment records.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email [email protected] from the address on your account and we’ll reply within 30 days. You can turn notifications off in the app and unsubscribe from our emails at any time. If you’re in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Age
DAAR is for people 18 and over. If we learn that someone under 18 has signed up, we’ll delete their account and data.
9. Security
We encrypt data in transit (HTTPS) and limit access to your data to the people who need it to run DAAR. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we’ll tell you.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
